Learn about foundational practice and system functions in DFV Connect.

Introduction

These recordings provide information on how to use system and practice functions in DFV Connect and assist with navigating the system.

We encourage all new users to complete the ‘Foundations’ training at minimum and role-specific sessions where required.

WDVCAS Foundations 1

This recorded training session is Part 1 of foundational functions in DFV Connect. This training provides users with a brief overview of the system and how to process referrals in DFV Connect.

  • Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Audience: All WDVCAS users
  • Learning outcomes: By the end of the session you will be able to:
    • view and access CRP referrals
    • link referrals to a person account
    • record contact attempts and referral client consent status
    • reallocate referrals
    • re-open referrals
    • process CRP updates, and
    • create manual referrals.

WDVCAS Foundations 2

This recorded training session is Part 2 of foundational functions in DFV Connect. This session is about working with clients, case coordination and recording support and service events in DFV Connect.

  • Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Audience: All WDVCAS users
  • Learning outcomes: By the end of this session, you will be able to:
    • create a case coordination case from a referral
    • complete the DVSAT
    • record service events including information and support
    • make an external referral from the system
    • prepare an internal referral to send to another funding program
    • refer a client for casework within your WDVCAS
    • record court advocacy services for new and existing clients, and
    • close a case.

FASS Foundations 1

This recorded training session is Part 1 of foundational functions in DFV Connect. This session focuses on FASS client intake in DFV Connect – through processing a referral and creating person account(s), and recording client support.

  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Audience: All FASS women and men users
  • Learning outcomes: By the end of this session you will be able to manage client intake by:
    1. processing referrals, including:
      • search for a client
      • create a FASS referral for existing and new clients
      • add other party details to the referral
      • link and create the other party person account
      • record consent, and
      • add dependent child details.
    2. record client support by:
      • create a case coordination case, and
      • record services provided to client (create service events such as information and support, and safety planning).

FASS Foundations 2

This recorded training session is Part 2 of foundational functions in DFV Connect. This session is about working with clients – case coordination and recording support in DFV Connect by creating case coordination cases to record service events.

  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Audience: All FASS women and men users
  • Learning outcomes: By the end of this session, you will be able to:
    • record service events including safety planning
    • make an external referral from the system
    • prepare an internal referral to send to another funding program
    • record court advocacy services by maintaining the court diary, and
    • close a case.
  • Access: DFV Connect – FASS Foundations Part 2 (duration 47m 26s).

Managers

This recorded training session is specifically for WDVCAS Managers and Assistant Managers. The purpose of this session is to provide WDVCAS Managers and Assistant Managers with an overview about Manager-specific functions including visibility of information, merge duplicate records and how to support the WDVCAS (and FASS) teams using DFV Connect.

  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Audience: All WDVCAS managers and assistant managers
  • Learning outcomes: By the end of this session, you will be able to:
    • understand how information is stored in DFV Connect and visibility permissions
    • assign referrals
    • assign case management clients for casework, and
    • merge duplicate records.
  • Access: DFV Connect – Managers (duration 25m 20s).

Safety Action Meeting Coordinators

This recorded training session is specifically for Safety Action Meeting (SAM) Coordinators. This session is about managing SAM clients in DFV Connect including creating a SAM, generating a SAM Agenda and Record of Actions, recording attendance and processing male serious threat referrals.

  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Audience: All SAM coordinators
  • Learning outcomes: By the end of this session, you will be able to:
    • manage a SAM by adding members and attendees, adding SAM cases and updating their status, create a SAP for each client and record members’ attendance, and
    • manage SAM clients by recording action status and make referrals using a SAM case.
  • Access: DFV Connect – SAM coordinators (duration 58m 50s).

Caseworkers

This recorded training section is specifically for caseworkers. The purpose of this session is to provide caseworkers with information about assessing a client for casework, recording service events and creating case plans.

  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Audience: All caseworkers
  • Learning outcomes: By the end of this session, you will be able to:
    • manage a case management case (what to do when a case is assigned to you and record service events)
    • create and update a case plan including adding goals and tasks, tracking goals and actions, recording case plan outcomes, conduct a case plan review and close a case plan
    • manage client appointments and set reminders, and
    • close a case management case.
